January 6th

Former President Trump’s plot to overturn the 2020 presidential election culminated on January 6, 2021.

Over multiple months, Trump oversaw and coordinated a sophisticated seven-part plan to prevent the transfer of presidential power. As part of that plan, he summoned a mob to Washington, D.C. When all his other efforts to steal the election failed, he told members of that same mob to march to the U.S. Capitol. “We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” Trump told them. In the months since then, some have tried to re-write history.

The videos below show the truth of what transpired. Then President Trump instigated a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol. It is our duty to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again.

As part of his attempt to overturn the 2020 election, former President Donald Trump relied on disinformation – that is, lies. Trump and his co-conspirators repeatedly lied about how Americans’ votes are cast and counted. As a result, Republican officials across several states were forced to combat Trump’s disinformation and uphold the integrity of our elections. While the 2020 presidential election is in the past, disinformation about America’s elections is likely here to stay. We must continue to combat these lies, which are corrosive for our democracy. The links below serve as a reminder of how Republican officials and others resisted Trump’s pressure and told the truth about the previous presidential election. We will continue to support those who stand up for the truth – and we will continue to expose disinformation about America’s elections.
